This year, you have two options for presenting Aetna’s consumer-facing sales presentation at sales events and beneficiary meetings. You can use a traditional PowerPoint presentation format or share the video version. NOTE: Both the PowerPoints and videos are CMS-approved and cover all required topics. To remain compliant, it is very important you do not add to, remove, or alter anything in the presentations.

Great news! With AEP right around the corner, we are happy to announce that 2022 sales materials are now available for download within CustomPoint! Having access to digital downloads will ensure you have what you need, when you need it.

Downloading Sales Materials in CustomPoint

Step 1: Access CustomPoint through Single Sign-On.

Step 2: From the Order Wizard Search section, search for the 2022 material you would like to download.

Step 3: Click on the Image Icon of the desired material.

Step 4: Once the PDF loads, click either the Download or Print option to download the material PDF.

Step 5: Save a copy of the download material for future use.

Please Note: Translated sales materials will be available for download on October 4, 2021.

Important Update for Print Orders

Occasionally materials will become unavailable for future ordering. Materials that are no longer available for ordering will not provide the option to input an order quantity within the Order Wizard Search section (as shown below). These materials cannot be ordered within CustomPoint, and will only be available for download.  Follow the steps above within this email to obtain downloads of the desired material.

Tips for your new business

With so many consumers making decisions about their healthcare needs this time of year, it’s easy to make some incorrect assumptions, which can result in delays or even a lost sale. We’re here to help you avoid those costly mistakes.

Choosing the type of application

When taking a Medicare Supplement application, be sure to pay attention to the type of application. The Medicare Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) does not mean the application is automatically Open Enrollment (OE) or Guaranteed Issue (GI).

Open enrollment applies only to persons who are first enrolling in Medicare Part B or turning age 65.

The guaranteed issue applies only to Medicare beneficiaries who are losing (or disenrolling) in their current health care coverage under a qualifying GI provision and these applications must include proof of creditable coverage which supports the qualifying GI event. Be sure to include the proof of creditable coverage with the application.

Underwritten applies to all other applications, where the applicant must answer all of the health questions.

Review the list of medications before submitting an app

Your applicant may not know about a declinable condition listed on their application. But, their prescribed medication may indicate they have a declinable condition.

Important: Some medications can be prescribed for multiple conditions. If your application is prescribed a medication that has multiple uses, you must provide the condition the medication is prescribed to treat

Also, don’t leave the list of medications blank on the application. If the applicant doesn’t take any medications, list “none.” 

We offer a list of commonly prescribed medications for declinable conditions to help you when you’re completing applications.

How our automated underwriting works

All applications submitted through Aetna Quote & Enroll will receive one of the following automated decisions within 2 minutes of submission: approved, declined, or review.

More than 64% of applications receive an automated “approved” or “declined” decision.

“Review” means that the applicant’s prescription and/or medical claims history conflicts with our underwriting guidelines and a manual underwriting review will be conducted next. 

Point of sale declined applications are due to prescription fills and/or medical claim data indicating one or more health questions should have been marked “yes.”

Changes Effective October 2nd

Final Expense: Higher Cash Values

Transamerica’s Final Expense Solutions Portfolio now has higher guaranteed cash values at the same cost-effective rates.

In response to the regulatory changes, we’re increasing cash values on our Immediate Solution, 10-Pay Solution, and Easy Solution effective October 2, 2021.

Final Expense Transition Details

New Applications:

  • All final expense applications submitted on or after October 2, 2021, will include cash value updates.

In-Flight Final Expense Applications:

  • Application received on or before October 1, 2021
  • Cases will issue with previous cash values
  • Need to be placed in force on or before December 31, 2021

Trendsetter® LB: New Minimum Issue Age for Band 1

Effective October 2, 2021, the minimum issue age for Trendsetter LB band 1 ($25,000–$99,999) will increase from age 18 to age 23. This means proposed insureds must be 23 years or older for a Trendsetter LB policy with a face amount less than $100,000.

Trendsetter LB Transition Details

New Applications:

  • All applications submitted on or after October 2, 2021, require minimum issue age 23 for Trendsetter LB band 1 ($25,000–$99,999).

In-Flight Trendsetter LB Band 1 Applications for Issue Ages 18 to 22:

  • Applications received at Transamerica on or before October 1
  • Cases will issue with previous minimum issue age 18
  • Cases must be placed in force on or before December 31, 2021
