With AEP upon us, we are delivering the Wellcare Insider: AEP Edition to you each week. This weekly update will continue to be your source for important updates and reminders, with AEP news you can use to provide excellent service and grow your business.

Important Correction – Pharmacy Updates Communication

Our Nov. 6 communication featuring pharmacy updates and reminders included a list of covered insulin products but did not denote those with restrictions such as covered on MAPD plans only, or non-formulary for Classic PDP plan only.

CMS Star Ratings Action Needed

As recently communicated, the 2024 CMS Star Ratings for all Wellcare plans are now available. The updated ratings are required to be included in all plan materials distributed on or after Nov. 1, 2023.

Review the 2024 CMS Star Ratings

Take a moment to review the 2024 CMS Star Ratings for the plans you serve. Achieving positive quality ratings is vital. These ratings are crucial to our members, brokers, and partners, and to our overall growth at Wellcare. With increased CMS focus on patient experience and access to care, we must continue to put our members first and empower them to partner with their providers to make good healthcare decisions. Your role as the member’s trusted advisor is more important than ever as you guide and support them in their best plan match.

Verify sales materials are current:

  • Ensure that you have now replaced the 2023 CMS Star Rating documents within your existing inventory of sales enrollment kits with the new 2024 CMS Star Ratings documents.
  • Be sure to dispose of any outdated 2023 CMS Star Rating documents. However, you can still utilize Enrollment Guides if accompanied with the updated ratings.

Resolving Requests for Information (RFI)

Request for Information (RFI) status occurs when a submitted application is either incomplete or contains incorrect information. To avoid processing delays or application denial, please ensure you provide accurate and complete information.

You will be informed through email and text message if you have applications in RFI status. Please be on the lookout for these notifications and act promptly to resolve them. There are two ways to resolve outstanding RFIs:

  1. Create a Centene Workbench Support ticket on Centene Workbench, using the Enrollment ticket type and RFI sub-type.
  2. Contact Broker Support at 866-822-1339 and select prompt 3. Note: Prior to calling Broker Support, please have all required information to resolve the RFI (e.g., NPN, Beneficiary Information – MBI, First Name, Last Name, DOB). Important: RFIs must be resolved within 21 days of application receipt from the member, or the application will be denied.

HRAs Improve Health Outcomes for Members

Health Risk Assessments (HRA) are a valuable tool for improving the overall health of our members. In addition to identifying health needs to ensure beneficiaries are receiving the right care at the right time, HRAs also play an important role in understanding the overall patient population with the goal of improving personalized and targeted care for all.

Help your members to understand some of the valuable benefits for them in completing an HRA at the time of enrollment:

Personalized Care – Completing an HRA provides a tailored assessment of your member’s health and risk factors. This information can be used to create a personalized care plan that will address each of the member’s needs.

Health Education – HRAs provide an opportunity for members to learn more about behaviors that influence improved health, such as preventative care, healthy lifestyle choices, and how best to manage chronic conditions.

Increased Satisfaction – Completing an HRA with your member allows them the opportunity to share more about their health and lifestyle with you, reinforcing your relationship as a trusted advisor to your member.

Completing an HRA is quick and easy, and can be captured directly within the Ascend Enrollment Platform or Sunfire after the enrollment is submitted using the integrated tool.

    New Text Message Outreach for PDP Members to Help Resolve RFI Applications

    As previously communicated, Wellcare utilizes automated conversational text messages in order to communicate with our Prescription Drug Plan (PDP) members. Members with a mobile number on file may be receiving the welcome message as well as other periodic text messages from the sender, “Jen at Wellcare.

    Heading Text 3. In addition to the previous messages sent to PDP members, a new Request for Information (RFI) campaign will launch this week. Details about this campaign are listed below.

    Request for Information (RFI) Texts

    An RFI campaign will begin this week and run through Dec. 2023. This targeted campaign will include one text message per week from “Jen” to applicants in RFI status in an attempt to obtain missing application information. There will be a transfer option available to the RFI team to complete the application. Applicants who provide the missing information will be removed from future outreach.

    Text Message Examples:

    • “Hi [FirstName], it’s Jen from Wellcare. Someone may have called you regarding your prescription drug plan enrollment application request. We still need some of your information to complete it. To finalize your application, when are you available for a call?” Text STOP to cancel.
    • “Hi [FirstName], this is Jen from Wellcare again. We tried reaching you last week – some information is still missing to complete your enrollment application request. When are you available for a call to finish your request?” Text STOP to cancel.
    • “Hi [FirstName], Jen from Wellcare reaching out one last time! Don’t let any missing information stop you from completing your enrollment application request for the prescription drug plan. When can we call you to finish your application?” Text STOP to cancel.

    Health Risk Assessments (HRA) are a valuable tool for improving the overall health of our members. In addition to identifying health needs to ensure beneficiaries are receiving the right care at the right time, HRAs also play an important role in understanding the overall patient population with the goal of improving personalized and targeted care for all.

    To expedite this important initiative, Wellcare is pleased to continue to provide the opportunity to earn administrative payment for the completion of each HRA.

    • No changes will be made in 2024 for the current administrative payment structure:
      • A $225 administrative payment is available for eligible D-SNP/C-SNP enrollments.
      • A $75 administrative payment is available for eligible MA/MAPD enrollments.
    • An HRA may be captured directly within Ascend and Sunfire after the enrollment is submitted, using the integrated tool.   

    We also offer a standalone Value-Based Enrollment (VBE) link for submissions for each plan year.

    Marketing Reminder

    As a reminder, all 2024 marketing activities for both new and existing members are permissible as of October 1. While it’s imperative that you remain compliant by not engaging in any application activity during this time, this window can be an important opportunity to lay the groundwork for a more successful sales season. In addition to educational events and focusing on new member marketing, don’t forget that directing your efforts toward your existing members during this time can also expedite your sales once October 15 arrives. Try reaching out to current members using these two principles to guide your conversation:

    • Connect with current members to explain any upcoming changes in their existing plan. This is a great opportunity to reinforce their understanding of brand new benefits that may enhance their plan satisfaction.
    • Take time to discover any changes in their needs that may open up new plan opportunities, such as changes in their health, new prescription drug needs or ancillary benefits they might be needing in the upcoming year.

    Ordering Prescription Drug Plan (PDP) materials is quick and easy. Use this two-step process to get started with your order:

    Step 1 – From the CustomPoint home page select PDP-Market from the drop down menu.

    Step 2 – Choose Plan Year 2024 and select Find to bring up all PDP materials available to order.

    Notes

    • The PDP 2024 Enrollment Guide is available in English or Spanish only.
    • Benefits Highlights sheets are new for the 2024 plan year and are versioned by state.
    • The CustomPoint home page contains a Helpful Documents section with a user guide, FAQ, and other CustomPoint 2024 materials available for download.
