What is Humana Pharmacy?

What is Humana Pharmacy? This has been a common question that is coming up more and more, especially over the past year. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a growing number of people that are now utilizing mail-order pharmacies. Humana is one of the top Medicare Advantage carriers in the country and has implemented excellent programs like the member care assessment (MCA) and Humana Pharmacy to ensure member retainment.

Mail-Order Pharmacy

Before we discuss Human’s mail-order pharmacy, it’s important to know what a mail-order pharmacy is. Most major carriers have a mail-order option available. This allows the client to get a 90-day prescription delivered directly to their door typically receiving an even better discount doing so.

What are Humana Pharmacy Benefits?

Some of the Humana Pharmacy benefits include:

  • Safe and time-efficient- No need for your client to go to the pharmacy and wait in line. Minimum exposure while getting reminders when it’s time to reorder medications.
  • Cost Savings- Many Humana plans offer this as a preferred cost-share pharmacy. This means $0 copays of tier 1 and 2 generics with a 90-day supply for most drugs. The pharmacy team is also always working with the client and doctor to find more cost-efficient drug options.
  • Quality- The client’s prescriptions are double-checked for accuracy and ensured they are shipped in tamper-resistant bottles (refrigerated with icepacks where necessary). Prescriptions are also delivered in plain packaging so there’s no need for the client to worry about privacy issues.

What Can a Client Get Using Humana Pharmacy?

Client’s can get a variety of things through the Humana Pharmacy such as:

  • Maintenance Medications-Examples include prescriptions used for high blood pressure and cholesterol.
  • Specialty Medications- These are typically condition-specific for complex illnesses like psoriasis or cancer.
  • Diabetic Testing and Injection- Supplies like glucose meters, lancets, and test strips.
  • OTC (Over-The-Counter) Supplies- Items include vitamins, cold and flu medications, and even first-aid materials. Members on certain Medicare Advantage plans can even get a monthly or quarterly allowance included in their plan benefits. (2021 OTC Catalog Here)

Social Media Marketing
Comments

With the Covid-19 pandemic, social media marketing has become a staple way for sales professionals to generate leads via the internet. Social media can include but is not limited to, websites such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Google Business, and even TikTok. Although they can totally vary on implementation, their end goals are all the same: LEADS.

What Platforms Should You Use

It is important to choose the right platforms that make sense for your client base. As a Medicare marketer, for instance, Facebook has been the go-to platform. From a demographic perspective, Baby boomers have been growing on utilization of the Facebook platform. In fact, according to a study published by Statista as of 2019, 68% of Baby boomers are on Facebook. This number will only continue to grow, making that a perfect sales opportunity in the senior market. This is just an example of ensuring you are using the correct platform for your market.

Social Media Marketing: Tips and Tricks

Below are a few tips and tricks to help with your social media marketing efforts:

  1. Stay consistent. Ensure you are posting on a regular basis. Make sure you are posting content whether it be images, company updates, or even regulation changes.
  2. Stay relevant. Content should be relevant to your brand and impartial. Stay away from topics like religion or politics where it can create divisiveness.
  3. As you develop more likes and followers from interested parties, you will need to answer questions and bond with your connections.
  4. Promote your page. Whether you are promoting to your friends, family, or complete strangers, you will need to promote your social media to get engagement. This can be done both organically and by paying for promotions (which can get costly).

2022 AEP Checklist

2022 AEP Checklist

2022 AEP Checklist
Comments

In order to prepare for the upcoming Medicare Annual Enrollment Period (AEP), it is essential to have a 2022 AEP checklist to have a well-organized start to the selling season. Medicare AEP officially begins on October 1st, 2021, with agents having the ability to start to discuss the new plan options with their clients. The enrollment dates span from October 15th, 2021, to December 7th, 2021, with start dates of 1/1/2022 for all plans.

Certifications

The first step every year in the journey to Medicare AEP preparedness is certifications. AHIP is the first major piece that should be finished before starting on anything else. AHIP (American Health Insurance Plans) launched the 2022 modules on June 21st this year. AHIP encompasses 5 modules, a 50-question test, and your updated FWA (Fraud, Waste, and Abuse) training. Once completed, this test is accepted by almost all carriers and will negate most Medicare 101 style training the carriers have built into their own training. If you need details on AHIP or any of the Medicare carriers 2022 training, please visit our AEP Toolkit for a detailed breakdown.

2022 AEP Checklist: Supplies

Although not as necessary with the emergence of remote selling, supplies are typically ordered around the first week of September. Supplies can include physical applications, brochures, and promotional materials you may need. This will come in handy for agents who are working both retail booths and scheduled events. We always recommend having some supplies available in case your clients do not have internet or an email address either way. Feel free to let us know what you need by ordering supplies through our website HERE.

2022 AEP Checklist: Marketing

Every agent needs a plan of attack on how they are going to market during this crucial season. Some questions you need to ask yourself. Are you going to send out BRC (Business Reply Cards) to potential clients? Are you hosting any sales or educational events (these need to be scheduled well in advance)? Are you going to be marketing online? And if so, will you be utilizing Facebook, Google, or some other social media platform to get leads. These are all crucial questions that need to be sorted out before October comes. Our sales team is here to help with these questions, including exclusive AEP co-op opportunities available, so reach out as soon as possible!

Cryptocurrency and Insurance

Cryptocurrency and Insurance

Cryptocurrency and Insurance
Comments

Does cryptocurrency and insurance have any impact on each other? This is one of the many questions I have been fielding over the past year due to the boom in the cryptocurrency market. In order to answer this question accordingly, we need to break down what cryptocurrency actually is and the effect it has on our financial markets.

What is Cryptocurrency?

Cryptocurrency, or crypto for short, is basically a form of payment that can be used online for goods and services. There are many different types of crypto that have been built by many different companies which can also be referred to as “tokens.” Think of crypto as almost like a chip from your favorite casino. You trade cash in for those chips to use for the casino games, and when you are finished, you trade them back in for whatever they are worth. Crypto is built on a technology known as a “blockchain.” Blockchains are essentially decentralized databases that are spread across many computers that manage and record these transactions.

Cryptocurrency and Insurance: Financial Markets

One of the main benefits of cryptocurrency is how secure it is. Without going into too much detail, it is almost impossible to steal someone’s money without the person giving out their private keys. A private key, as defined by Investopedia, is “a sophisticated form of cryptography that allows a user to access their cryptocurrency.” This is an integral aspect of the security of crypto and helps protect users from theft and any unauthorized access to their funds. Due to crypto’s security and decentralized blockchain, this essentially cuts banks out of the equation. This will obviously have a major impact on our financial markets as a whole. As banks and hedge funds are just now beginning to accept cryptocurrency as a valid form of payment, it is still too early to see the impact it will have in the years to come.

Designing a Medicare Website

Designing a Medicare Website

Designing a Medicare Website
Comments

Designing a Medicare website can be a tedious task but is extremely crucial for an agent to do for their web presence. With most of today’s current sales environment being virtual, more than ever clients are seeking out insurance agents via the internet. In order to capitalize on this traffic, agents need to have an online presence to stay relevant.

Website Options

There are many different options when it comes to developing a website that an agent can choose from. The two we will be discussing today are website development by a third party and self-developing a website on your own.

Designing a Medicare Website: Third-Party Development

In some cases, depending on the complexity of what you are looking for, you may need to reach out to a third-party developer to get your website created. A couple of pros to this would be the ability to be creative and unique with your site, the ability to cross-sell multiple product lines, and control over the content. Some cons to this would always be cost (which can vary depending on how in-depth you go) and having to depend on someone else to make the changes and work with their schedule. This can be a costly but rewarding avenue for your website.

Designing a Medicare Website: Self-Development

Creating your own website can be a great way to get your content out onto the internet. There are some pros and cons with this option as well! Some pros would include low cost (depending on hosting and such) and full control of when and where content is created (no schedule to worry about other than your own). Some cons would be the amount of time needed in the creation process and website creation knowledge would need to be at least minimal to complete. Good for you, Pinnacle Financial Services can help you create a website for less than $20! Check out our webinar on that HERE.
