The Covid-19 pandemic altered the way our society utilized social media marketing. Prior to 2020 social media was utilized for marketing, but not to the extent it is now. The restrictions state governments implemented on face-to-face interactions made social media marketing paramount to sales agent’s success moving forward.

What is Social Media Marketing?

Investopedia defines social media marketing as “the use of social media and social networks to market a company’s products and services. Social media marketing provides companies with a way to engage with existing customers and reach new ones while allowing them to promote their desired culture, mission, or tone.” Basically, social media marketing is a way to utilize online social networks to generate business.

Where do you use Social Media Marketing?

Whether you are an individual or a business, you have a robust amount of options at your disposal. The most prominent network over the past decade has of course been Facebook. Facebook has an immense amount of customizability that can accommodate just about any type of business you may have. If you do not have a Facebook business, you can check out a webinar I’ve done on how to do so Here! Of course, there are plenty of other platforms as well that work well, such as; LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube/Google Business to name a few.

How to use Social Media Marketing?

How to use social media marketing is a fairly debatable topic. Depending upon which platform you are using, this will change drastically. All of them have their pros and cons and I would recommend trying them all to see what works. Most sales agents will be utilizing multiple of these platforms to help build, what I like to call, their “Online Ecosystem.”

With the Covid-19 pandemic, social media marketing has become a staple way for sales professionals to generate leads via the internet. Social media can include but is not limited to, websites such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Google Business, and even TikTok. Although they can totally vary on implementation, their end goals are all the same: LEADS.

What Platforms Should You Use

It is important to choose the right platforms that make sense for your client base. As a Medicare marketer, for instance, Facebook has been the go-to platform. From a demographic perspective, Baby boomers have been growing on utilization of the Facebook platform. In fact, according to a study published by Statista as of 2019, 68% of Baby boomers are on Facebook. This number will only continue to grow, making that a perfect sales opportunity in the senior market. This is just an example of ensuring you are using the correct platform for your market.

Social Media Marketing: Tips and Tricks

Below are a few tips and tricks to help with your social media marketing efforts:

  1. Stay consistent. Ensure you are posting on a regular basis. Make sure you are posting content whether it be images, company updates, or even regulation changes.
  2. Stay relevant. Content should be relevant to your brand and impartial. Stay away from topics like religion or politics where it can create divisiveness.
  3. As you develop more likes and followers from interested parties, you will need to answer questions and bond with your connections.
  4. Promote your page. Whether you are promoting to your friends, family, or complete strangers, you will need to promote your social media to get engagement. This can be done both organically and by paying for promotions (which can get costly).

Growing your Social Media Presence

Growing your Social Media Presence

Growing your Social Media Presence

Although it has been around for quite some time, social media is still a question mark for many insurance professionals. It is increasingly important to have both an internet presence and a social media presence. At the end of the day, you shouldn’t have to always be chasing leads when you can get inbound marketing to bring in fresh prospects for you as well. Although there are many different avenues to use such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and Google Business, they all tend to follow some of the same patterns. I will discuss a few of those below.

Brand Awareness

It is crucial to establish a brand persona. This can range anywhere from profile pictures and graphics to your overall mission statement. This is important as this is how your clients will see and recognize you. In business, first impressions can sometimes create or turn away a potential client.

Connections

Connecting with friends, family, and fellow industry members are important to help get your presence started. Friends and family can typically be some of the first people to get you some referrals which can branch out from there. Industry people like fellow agents and company representatives can grow connections, and help you get possible cross-over business or even co-op dollars for marketing from the company representatives.

Content

So now that you created your brand image and have established connections, now what? Having relevant content to post to your connections can help promote you as the center of influence. At the end of the day, you want the people you are affiliated with to come to you as the expert in your field. Just 1 like or share could equal money in your pocket! I will say to try and stay as neutral as possible while not getting into divisive topics like politics or religion.

Pinnacle Financial Services is a full service “FMO” here to help from even your very first tweet (Twitter)! We offer extensive training on how to build brand awareness. We also offer an online enrollment portal that can double as a client-facing website known as Connect4Medicare. We can teach you how to create Facebook and Google business profiles, like this webinar here, and even give you relevant content to post to your connections. We are here to help you crack the digital marketing conundrum once and for all. Join us at the top!
