Cigna | AEP is almost over

December 7 marks the last day of AEP! As you know, per CMS, there are several rules regarding last-minute applications.

  • Paper enrollments must be in an agent’s possession by Dec. 7.
  • Agents have 48 hours to turn applications into Cigna.
  • Enrollment over the phone at an approved call center must be recorded and received by 11:59 p.m.* on Dec. 7.
  • Customer mailed applications must be received by Cigna on Dec. 7.
  • Customer faxed applications must be received by Cigna by 11:59 p.m.* on Dec. 7.

* Based on enrollee’s time zone.

Customers whose applications do not meet these AEP guidelines will not be enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan for January 1, 2022, unless they have an available SEP.

As always, don’t forget, you can still enroll customers with a 1/1 effective date with a valid SEP application after Dec. 7.
